Your invitation to join our community panel

Nominations are open for people to help shape Bayside's future.

We’re looking for 40 people to work together and help shape Council’s plans for the next four years. If you live or run a business in Bayside, then you’re perfect for our Community Panel

Our community panel will discuss, debate and deliberate on key issues and plans, providing insights and opinions to guide important decisions.

The Panel will:

  • Consider and discuss community feedback, research and information
  • Develop recommendations to inform and improve Council’s key long-term plans
  • Involve 40 Bayside community members
  • Include a mix of people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.

You don’t need any special skills or knowledge to take part – just a willingness to work with others to consider the diverse views and needs of your community. If you’re selected as a panel member, you’ll be briefed by Councillors, Council staff and external experts to help you understand what decisions need to be made. Small group discussions will be guided by professional, independent facilitators to make sure everyone feels supported and everyone’s voice is heard.

You will need to attend all eight panel sessions (approximately 34 hours) between February and May 2025. Each panel member will be paid $750 in recognition of their volunteer time and to cover any potential costs associated with their participation.

From all nominations, the panel will be independently selected to best represent the Bayside community in terms of age, gender and suburb, as well as a mix of housing situations, such as owning a home or renting, and lived experience of disability.

Nominations close 10 November 2024.

If you're interested in being a panel member, but may need some support to take part, please get in touch via email yoursay@bayside.vic.gov.au or phone 9599 4801.
