Public health

Council's Environmental Health Officers protect and improve public and environmental health, and the wellbeing of the community. The officers 

  • monitor food businesses to ensure food for sale is safe and suitable for human consumption.
  • monitor hairdressing and beauty businesses, aquatic facilities and prescribed accommodation to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, responds to outbreaks of infectious diseases, investigate residential noise complaints and asbestos on private land.
  • monitor tobacco retailers for advertising and sale of tobacco products, the smoking in public spaces ie outdoor dining, enclosed restaurants and cafes, education facilities, public hospitals and sporting venues during organised under-age sporting events and,
  • educate the community about public health.
