Local councils collaborating to maintain the highest level of care for older residents

Agreement signed for Bayside to provide aged care services for Glen Eira.

We have signed an agreement to provide in-home and social support services on behalf of Glen Eira City Council. This expansion recognises the strong reputation we have in delivering aged care services and reinforces the strong commitment that we have in providing services to our ageing community for the long-term.

We are one of four Melbourne Metropolitan councils who made the decision to continue to deliver in-home care services when the Australian Government’s aged care reforms are fully implemented. We have delivered services for more than 50 years and like Glen Eira, we have a strong and trusted reputation within the community and have developed invaluable expertise in the sector.

We will now move to the next phase and focus on supporting clients and staff for a successful transition, starting on 11 November 2024. Plans are underway to have Glen Eira aged care services operating from a dedicated site within Glen Eira. Bayside residents will continue to receive services at the same level and to the same excellent quality they are accustomed to. Bayside ratepayers will not be subsidising aged care services to Glen Eira.

This collaboration has been a great result, one that has had huge support from the Glen Eira community, and it shows how councils can work together to continue to provide valued services.
