Elsternwick Park’s new play space is now ready to be explored

Construction on the new playground at Elsternwick Park South in Brighton is now complete.

The design of the new play space was created using feedback from our community that was collected during community engagement on the Playground Improvement Plan, including ideas from our Bayside playground testers aged 1 – 12.

We have included a range of new fun play equipment, accessibility improvements and planting for more shade.   The play elements encourage children to engage in imaginary, and social play and includes equipment suitable for children of all ages and a range of abilities, including:

  • A basket swing, toddler swing and a seesaw
  • Nature play elements including an eagles lair, water play unit and a teepee structure
  • A new wooden fort with accessible ramped access, log steppers and shade sail
  • A wide range of imaginative play elements including musical instruments, musical pipes, a spiral game table and speaking tubes.

Additional features include planting new trees, garden beds, logs and rockwork, updating the playground with new colourful matting surface and updating the shade shelter over the picnic area.

This is the last playground upgrade planned for Elsternwick Park and is part of Bayside City Council’s plan to upgrade all 61 playgrounds in Bayside.

The reserve also features new exercise equipment, and a new toilet will be constructed due by the end of the year in the southern end of the reserve.

Head down to Bent Avenue in Brighton to check it out.
