Performer
Born and raised in Sydney NSW, Taiga began his early training at the age of 4 at Chapel Lane Studio. In 2014 he was accepted into Newtown High School of the Performing Arts where he spent 6 years. While at NHSPA he worked and collaborated with choreographers including, Richard Cilli, Adam Blanch, Nelson Earl, and Cass Mortimer Eipper.
Focusing on his passion for contemporary dance, in Year 12 he auditioned and was accepted into New Zealand School of Dance in early 2020 studying Certificate of Dance Performance. Taiga then applied to join the Sydney Dance Company Pre Professional Year program studying an Advanced Diploma of Dance, where he has been since mid-2020 engaging in works by Holly Doyle, James Vu Anh Pham, Gabrielle Nankivell, Omer Backley-Astrachan, and Rafael Bonachela’s Six Breaths. He has worked with Sue Healy collaborating on two films, Circumstance 2020 and On View: Panoramic Suite. Taiga also had the opportunity to perform Ohad Naharin’s well-renowned work Decadance with Sydney Dance Company at the Sydney Festival 2022. He continues to grow as a dancer and mover, always curious in discovering and researching new ways of moving within his body.
