Autumn School Holiday Activities

Activities are open to young people aged 12-17 years old. Participants must live, go to school, work or study in Bayside. Bookings close Tuesday 26 March.

Learn How to Make Your Own Dumplings

Wednesday 3 April

Dumpling Making Masterclass: join Elizabeth Shen, to learn her expert traditional techniques and special tricks using organic ingredients. Once you have tasted your dumplings, it will be hard to go back to store-bought! Each attendee will receive a recipe pack, including trusted local suppliers, and healthy tips. This is hands on learning at its best! See how cooking connects cultures.

Games and Razz 

Thursday 4 April

Games and Razz: a jam packed afternoon to discover classic games like giant Jenga, Battleship, Gravitrax, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on the Nintendo Switch, Virtual Reality, Lego challenge, a group game of dodgeball and Scavenger hunting through the library!

Time 2:00pm - 4:00pm
What to bring Water bottle, and appropriate shoes for dodgeball.

'Out There' Sailing Experience 

Tuesday 9 April

'Out There' Sailing Experiences are the ideal way to have fun and get active on the water and are all about:

  • Having fun while experiencing sailing.
  • Socialising with friends and making new ones.
  • Learning how to sail in an inclusive environment. 
  • Developing life-long friendships and learning team skills.

This program is for young people who would like to try dinghy and keelboat sailing, we will have the opportunity to work on helming and crewing skills during the session. All of our youth programs are delivered by qualified Australian Sailing Instructors. 

Time 9:00am - 12:00pm
What to bring Clothes that can get wet, bathers or wet suit, closed shoes (old runners), a change of clothes, towel, hat, sunscreen, water bottle and snacks (no nuts).
Drop off/Pick up Sandringham Yacht Club, Jetty Road, Sandringham.

Exploring the Landscapes of Lynne Boyd

Thursday 11 April

Create your own atmospheric landscape work, with mixed media including pastels, watercolours, and paper. Come along these School Holidays to the Bayside Gallery and immerse yourself in the atmospheric work of local artist Lynne Boyd. Explore how Lynne was inspired by the bay and environment, then work with a Gallery Educator to create your own. Suitable for all skill levels, all materials provided.
