Disability assistance in Bayside

We provide assistance for people aged under 65 years who need assistance with daily activities. Need some help? Call us on 03 9599 4632 if you want to talk about the services we provide or find out more about other support available.

Support we provide

Community care services are available for residents aged under 65 who are impacted by disability or mental health and deemed ineligible for the National Disability Insurance Scheme. The services are individualised to provide a range of practical household and personal assistance as well as support to participate in community activities to meet social needs and enhance independence.

In addition to participation in community activities, help can include hygiene support, meal preparation or delivery, shopping, house cleaning and property maintenance.  Support for people caring for eligible residents is also available.

Our Service Information and Access Officer will assist you with your enquiry and create a referral for an assessment.  An assessment officer will contact you to arrange a convenient time to visit your home.

Feel free to give us a call on 03 9599 4632 to discuss your needs.

NDIS services and support

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is the national program providing a new way of delivering services and support to people under 65 who live with a permanent and significant disability.

The scheme is now rolled out across Bayside, with the Brotherhood of St Laurence coordinating the delivery. You can speak to them about accessing the NDIS by calling the Local Area Coordinator on 1300 275 634.

Visit the NDIS website for more information.

If you are unable to access the NDIS or require additional information then feel free to give us a call on 03 9599 4632.

Accessing the NDIS

To participate in the NDIS, you must first be assessed against the access requirements. The questions in the NDIS access checklist will help you determine if you are eligible. Contact details and other information is available on the NDIS website.

If you already receive Victorian or Commonwealth government support, you will be contacted by an NDIS representative when it is time to transition to the NDIS. This includes people who are waiting for support on the Victorian Disability Support Register and Early Childhood Intervention Services.

The Brotherhood of St Laurence, in partnership with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), will provide services for the NDIS in Bayside.

If you are not currently receiving support and think you may meet the access requirements for the NDIS, please contact the NDIA on 1800 800 110 or the Brotherhood of Laurence on 1300 275 634.

Brotherhood of St Laurence

The Brotherhood of St Laurence is providing NDIS advice and support across the Bayside Peninsula region.

They can advise residents on how to access specialist services through the NDIS. The Local Area Coordinators have been trained and have the skills to assist people with all kinds of disability to access to the NDIS.

They will:

  • Provide assistance with the planning process, and ensuring plans are implemented effectively.
  • Work with the community and service providers to build inclusion and awareness of the needs of people with disability.

The Brotherhood of St Laurence is available now to provide pre-planning, support and advice over the phone and in person at its Moorabbin office.

To contact the Brotherhood of St Laurence, call 1300 275 634 or email ndis.info@bsl.org.au.
