Prehistoric Bayside - Fossil Registration

Have you found a fossil in Bayside? Ben Francischelli, palaeontologist and curator of Prehistoric Bayside, wants to hear from you. 

Bring along your fossil find to our Fossil Roadshow on Saturday 17 August. Ben Francischelli and other experts will be on hand to identify and discuss fossils brought in by community members. In addition, our citizen scientists will have items from their collections for you to get up close to.

This information will be shared with a third party, Ben Francischelli, who will store it securely according to Council’s data privacy requirements. Please protect our fragile fossil sites by not disturbing or digging rock, sand or soil. It is an offence to cause damage to our natural environment or to remove fossils from the National Parks Act protected Rickett’s Point Marine Sanctuary. Excavating for fossils in any way – on land or in the water – is prohibited.
