Rebecca Marshall

Rebecca Marshall is a Melbourne-based artist making paintings and objects featuring semi-abstract figures and images in sweet candy-coloured hues.

Marshall is drawn to the idea of happiness, our constant pursuit of it and its uniquely ephemeral nature. Marshall sources and collects a wide range of imagery, symbols of beauty and femininity – motifs that tap into connection and emotion. The works create nonlinear narratives, piecing together elements and materials to retell an unknown story that exists somewhere between reality and a dream.

Rebecca Marshall has exhibited regularly in Melbourne and was a finalist in the Sulman Prize at the National Gallery of NSW, 2023; a semi finalist in the Lester Art Prize, 2019 and a finalist in the Churchie National Emerging Art prize in 2017 at QUT Art Museum, Brisbane. Marshall was also an Arts Grant recipient from Kingston Arts in 2023. Marshall’s work is held in private collections nationally and internationally.
