Surface maintenance at R J Sillitoe Reserve

Sillitoe Reserve green grass soccer pitch on a mostly fine day with goal in the left foreground

We’re closing the southern soccer pitch of R J Sillitoe Reserve from Tuesday, 28 May 2024 for the winter sports season. Community access to the remainder of the reserve is via Lawson Street, while the Ludstone Street entrance is closed.

To protect the integrity of the sportsground surface we’re fencing around one soccer pitch, with use limited to soccer training and competition. The partial, temporary closure provides the opportunity to maintain the oval condition for the winter season, resulting in a safer, more enjoyable user experience.

The community, including dog walkers can still access the northern end of the reserve, including on Monday nights between 5pm and 8pm during winter. We'll turn the lights on at the northern sportsground as part of our winter Lights on for Dogs program.

The nearby Wishart Reserve dog park is now also open and is a great place for dogs to socialise and exercise. To find other local spots to exercise your dog, check out our interactive walking your dog in Bayside map. Winter dog restrictions began on 1 April, with more off-leash access for our four-legged friends on beach and foreshore areas through the colder months 🐶
