Eyes that see: the collection of Norman Rosenblatt

Even as a little child, Norman Rosenblatt had a passion for art and for the creative process.

“It has always fascinated me how human beings can be so creative, making something beautiful out of something simple like a blank sheet of paper, pieces of wood or metal or a block of stone,” he said.

Over the years Rosenblatt’s love of creativity and the art it produces has led to an eclectic collection of artworks, now exhibited at Bayside Gallery.

Eyes that see includes works by emerging and established Australian artists including Rick Amor, Howard Arkley, Alan Constable, David Keeling, Erica McGilchrist, Wilma Tabacco and Danila Vassilieff.

However, Rosenblatt says his collection is more about the pieces themselves.

“It is about sharing the joy of beautiful art regardless of the fame or otherwise of the artists or how valuable, in monetary terms, or not the art may be,” he said.

“I want people to see the pieces and feel a thrill, a joy, when they see something they love.”

Eyes that see is on display at Bayside Gallery until 23 October 2022. Entry is free and walk-ins welcome.
