Bid a safe farewell to 2021

It’s time to bid farewell to 2021 and ring in a new year.

Council does not hold any formal events to celebrate New Year’s Eve.

However, we know our residents enjoy Bayside’s 17 kilometres of foreshore and our beautiful parks and reserves at this time of year to catch up with friends and family.

We urge everyone to do so safely, remembering to socially distance and to be aware of Local Laws around the consumption of alcohol.

Beach users should remember that alcohol consumption is now banned on the beach at the foot of the cliffs at Half Moon Bay.

There are quite a few vantage points along the coast from where the city’s fireworks can be viewed. Revellers seeking formal events should contact one of the many Bayside venues to see what’s on offer.

Mayor Cr Alex del Porto said Bayside’s 26 pre-Christmas festive events were a great success, showing people want to reconnect in their communities and enjoy each other’s’ company again after the lockdowns of the past year.

“As you do that, please look out for each other, stay safe and be kind,” Cr del Porto said. “And, of course, take care of your pets, many of whom don’t like this night of the year.”
