Meet our friendly librarian Lisa

We sat down with Lisa, Customer Service Librarian - Information. Find out why she chose to work at the library and what has been her favourite read this year.

Why did you choose to work at the library?
I have always enjoyed books, so it was a natural progression to attend library school in Ballarat, and work in a library.

What has been your favourite read this year?
I have thoroughly enjoyed Clare Keegans novels  “Small things like these" and “Foster” which was made into a beautiful movie titled “The Quiet Girl”, absolutely delightful.

What it the best part of your job.
I love working with the team at Brighton Library, everyone is very supportive and I have developed some wonderful friendships. I love working with the public, sometimes it can be challenging but overall it is extremely rewarding.

What was your favourite book as a child?
My favourite book as a child was The Adventures of Rupert.  I am pleased to say we still have this classic in our library collection “ The Magic of Rupert”.

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
It would have to be something Italian, A Pasta Dish.

Do you have a favourite reading genre?
I do enjoy reading True Crime and Crime Fiction

Who was the first author that sparked your interest in the world of books?
As a primary school aged student, I loved Enid Blyton books. Secret Seven and Famous Five, I found them so interesting and loved all the excitement and the adventures.

Pick one library magazine that best reflects your interests outside of work.
Definitely Country Style Magazine. I love all the history behind country properties, and the process of renovation stories and the beautiful scenery and house designs. A wonderful magazine
