Sandringham Foreshore Gardens revegetation

We’re improving accessibility and cliff stability with a series of works at Sandringham Foreshore Gardens.

These upgrades are part of the Sandringham Foreshore Masterplan.

Key features of the work

  • Removing a short asphalt path and a small set of stairs
  • Installing a new handrail along the stairs and path from the rotunda to improve accessibility
  • Extensive revegetation with indigenous plants to strengthen the cliff area
  • No impacts on the clifftop gravel pathways
  • No impacts to beach access via the Melrose Street stairs, Sandringham Lifesaving Club stairs or Rotunda path and stairs. 

Timing

Works are scheduled to commence in November 2024 and will take up to four weeks, weather permitting. The works will take place between 7am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.


What to expect during the works

  • We will close off the small section of path while we work 
  • Access to the beach will be retained
  • There will be noise and dust associated with the works. 

Project cost

Council is investing approximately $90,000 on this project
