Help us plan the future for Elsternwick Park Nature Reserve

We are looking for people who can share their thoughts and insights to ensure Elsternwick Park Nature Reserve (EPNR) is operated in a way that achieves its goals and aspirations.

The reserve represents a once in a lifetime opportunity to create a new and extraordinary natural space in our urban environment. It will have significant recreational benefits for the community as well as substantially enhancing biodiversity, water management and water quality flowing into Port Phillip Bay.

Expressions of interest to join the Elsternwick Park Nature Reserve Committee of Management (EPNRCOM) are open until 1 August 2022.

Under the management model a group of 10 members will be involved in discussions regarding the management of flora and fauna within the reserve and will recommend actions that conserve and enhance the values within this unique area. The members will be a mixture of Bayside Councillors, members of the community and technical experts.

The management model has been developed by the Elsternwick Park Nature Reserve Community Reference Panel along with Council.

The Committee will also make recommendations to Council on matters such as strategic direction and required capital works in relation to the nature reserve. They will also play an active role in seeking and communicating community views to Council.

A selection criteria and assessment process will govern how Committee members are appointed. Length of tenure on the Committee will also be fixed.

Membership will aim for a group representing a range of abilities, ages, gender, cultures, geographic locations across the municipality and a range of areas of interest/expertise. Members should demonstrate interest, skills, knowledge and or expertise relevant to the goals of EPNR and the ability to work in a team.

Members of the committee will be required to attend a minimum of four meetings per year and also be available at, mutually agreeable times, to provide specific advice regarding EPNR to Council and its stakeholders
