Pastoral Care Volunteers, Residential Care Home Caulfield

HammondCare Pastoral Care Volunteers have an opportunity to support the spiritual and emotional needs of the elderly people living in an aged care home. As a pastoral care volunteer you’ll be a Christian actively involved with a local Christian church in the area.

You’ll supplement and complement the work of our Pastoral Care Coordinators, and under their direction you may:
- Support people to meet their spiritual needs
- Support people and families in time of crisis
- Nurture spiritual development

Skills required for this role:
- High level of interpersonal skills including strong empathy and listening skills.
- Pastoral Care training for example Chaplaincy, Clinical Pastoral Education, or you could attend HammondCare pastoral care training- Spiritual Care Series, in preparation for becoming a pastoral care volunteer.
- Face to Face training will commence Wednesdays 1-3pm 10/7/24 to 28/08/2024 in Caulfield.

Volunteering alongside Pastoral Care can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.

The Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme is funded by the Australian Government and is established to promote links between elderly people and volunteers in their local community.

All HammondCare volunteers receive training and on-going support from a local HammondCare Volunteer Coordinator

We can discuss a suitable time of the week, with a commitment of 6 months or longer.

Requirements
- 18 years or older
- National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Evidence of COVID-19 vaccination will be required (Two doses)
