Meaningful Connections - Bentleigh East

Three very special ladies in your community are currently lonely and isolated. Become a Volunteer Community Visitor and bring a sense of companionship and joy to them.

As a Volunteer Community Visitor at Better Health Network (BHN), you will be part of the Meaningful Connections Program - a team of dedicated, engaged and passionate volunteers who make positive impact on the lives of the people they visit.

Better Health Network (BHN) is a not-for-profit organisation providing a wide range of services to support healthy living, general wellbeing and social connection in our community.

Meaningful Connections is a government-funded program that matches a volunteer visitor with a lonely or isolated older person living in an aged care facility or in their own home. The Volunteer and resident are matched according to similar interests or background. The visits are regular and purely social, with the intention of developing an ongoing friendship and social connectedness.

Three lovely ladies living in the same care home in Bentleigh would greatly benefit from a volunteer who could go and spend around 20 minutes with each of them.

Lola* loves to chat about a wide range of topics and has a good sense of humour. Originally from Scotland, she is well travelled and has collected art and collectables from around the world.

Hazel* enjoys reading, word searches and colouring. She loves Abba and country music and playing cards.

Vivian* enjoys art and used to be an artist. She loves gardens and flowers and music. She would love a volunteer to take her for a wheelchair walk in the garden.

If you are interested in learning more about becoming a volunteer visitor to our very special friends, apply now or contact us for a chat.

All new Volunteers must undergo a Police Check and Working With Children’s Check and be able to commit to the role for 12 months. We provide full training and support.

At BHN, we value our volunteers and are passionate about diversity. We encourage applications from all backgrounds.
