Black Rock Life Saving Pavilion renewal

We have built a new modern, fit for purpose pavilion to ensure Black Rock Life Saving Club can continue to provide essential services to beach visitors and the local community.

The new pavilion includes:

  • Improved viewing areas for patrols
  • Gender neutral changerooms and new accessible public toilet facilities
  • Two accessible car parking bays

Exciting new facilities for Black Rock Beach

The Black Rock Life Saving Club’s members and volunteers have now moved into their new home.

The $5 million redevelopment commenced in September 2022. The building was in urgent need of renewal to provide modern and fit-for-purpose facilities for life savers and to accommodate both its growing membership and the increase in visitors to Black Rock Beach.

The pavilion was designed using feedback that was collected during an extensive community engagement process in 2021.

The Victorian Government contributed funding of $2million towards the project and Black Rock Life Saving Club contributed $250,000.

The pavilion was designed using feedback that was collected during an extensive community engagement process in January to February 2021. Learn more about the community engagement on this project.

Project progress

April 2024: Temporary changes to use of Bay Trail at Black Rock Life Saving Club

We’re improving accessibility to the Black Rock Life Saving Club

Bayside City Council is upgrading the car park to enhance access to the clubhouse.

The car park will include four standard car parks and one accessible that connect to a new path to ensure the building is fully accessible.

While the works on the car park are underway cyclists will be detoured from the shared path to the bay trail. The final works are scheduled to be completed by the end of July 2024.

Please follow the direction signage and dismount if you’re cycling this short stretch (approximately 25 metres).

Accessible parking

We encourage visitors to utilise accessible car parks at Black Rock Beach carpark (B16) located opposite 308 Beach Road while the works are underway.
