Your rates payment options

To pay your rates, simply select your payment option and method of payment.

Choose your payment option:

We provide 3 options for payments:

1: Instalments

To pay by instalments the first payment must be paid by 30 September.

  • 30 September
  • 30 November 
  • 28 February
  • 31 May

2: Payment in full

If you pay your rates in full as a lump sum, payment is due by 15 February. If you choose to pay by 15 February you will not receive another notice before the full amount is due. However, you can subscribe for a SMS reminder in February.

3: Direct debit

There are 3 payment options by direct debit:

  • 9 direct debits deducted monthly from 1 October to 1 June 
  • 4 instalments (as noted on your rates notice) 30 September, 30 November, 28 February, 31 May
  • 1 payment deducted on 15 February

You can set up a direct debit payment that allows your rates to be debited from your account on the due date. You apply for this by setting up direct debit online.

If you prefer, you can print out and complete the PDF application form (681.22KB) and return it to us via post or via email to rates@bayside.vic.gov.au.

If you already have a direct debit agreement to pay your rates then your direct debit will continue until you advise us that you wish to cancel the service. Do this by emailing us at rates@bayside.vic.gov.au


Payment methods

The Rates Biller code for Bayside Council is 7872.  Your 8-digit reference number can be located on the bottom of the rates notice.

Use BPay to pay from cheque, savings or credit card accounts.  Go online or use phone banking. 

Pay your rates securely online by Visa, Mastercard (a surcharge of 0.68% will apply), or AMEX (a surcharge of 0.62% will apply).

Direct debit arrears

If you have arrears on your account then we can assist you with managing the payment of your rates. Please call us on 9599 4444.

Cheque or money order only. Please note, Credit card payments by mail are not accepted.

Pay at any Post office. Credit Card payments are not accepted.

Payments accepted at the Bayside City Council Corporate Centre Cashier's Counter are cash, cheque, money order, EFTPOS and credit card (Visa, Mastercard surcharge of 0.57%, or AMEX surcharge of 0.62% will apply).

Require a rates payment arrangement?

Our hardship policy can be applied to ratepayers who are having difficulty paying rates. 

If you are unable to meet a required payment on time, you can enter into a payment arrangement to suit your circumstances.
