Bayside Major Activity Centres Project

Council have adopted the Final Structure Plans for the four Major Activity Centres in Bayside, namely Bay Street, Church Street, Hampton and Sandringham.

The Structure Plans provide forward planning and vision for the development of the four major activity centres within Bayside.

The structure plan process and subsequent planning scheme amendment will give certainty to residents and developers alike for these areas.

Structure plans address issues including appropriate building height and form, urban design, new housing opportunities, development that is more environmentally sustainable, greater transport choice, and generally provide greater certainty for the future direction of the centre.

Planning Scheme Amendment

Note: Council resolved to adopt the Final Structure Plans at the Ordinary Meeting of 28 November 2006,  subject to several amendments. This resolution is outlined in the minutes to the meeting (Item 4.1, page 7).

On the 13 December 2010, the Minister for Planning authorised Council to prepare amendments to the Bayside Planning Scheme to implement the recommendations of the Bay Street, Church Street, Hampton Street and Sandringham Major Activity Centre Structure Plans.
