Donald MacDonald playground upgrade

Donald MacDonald Reserve playground

The much-loved Donald MacDonald Playground in Beaumaris will be fully upgraded in early 2024, as part of our plan to improve all of Bayside's 61 playgrounds.

In July 2022, some equipment within the popular playground was identified as being in poor condition and removed to ensure safety.

The playground is being replaced, with plans that incorporate community feedback and include a flying fox and in-ground trampoline, as well as accessible rubber pathways and more trees of shade.

New features include

  • Climbing frames and slides
  • Multiple swings to accommodate different levels of accessibility
  • An in-ground trampoline
  • A flying fox

Timing

Construction will begin in February 2024 and will be completed by May 2024.

What to expect during works

The playground will be fenced off and closed during construction.

Works will be managed to mitigate impacts on surrounding residents; however, we expect a level of construction noise during the installation of infrastructure.
