Bayside Hard Rubbish Collection to Commence in May

Bayside City Council’s first hard rubbish collection for 2011 will commence in the northern part of the City on Monday May 2 and conclude in the southern areas at the end of May.

Every home in Bayside will receive an information leaflet in their letterbox approximately 10 days prior to their collection date explaining the collection dates and the materials that are acceptable for collection.

Hard waste and bundled branches collections occur together for domestic quantities only.

Last year Council’s contractor, Transpacific Cleanaway, collected approximately 1500 tonnes of hard waste and 150 tonnes of bundled prunings.

Announcing this year’s first collection dates, Mayor Alex del Porto said there are about 40,000 properties in Bayside and that an estimated 60% of households use the Council’s hard waste collection service.

He also reminded residents to check their information leaflet carefully to see what will, and will not, be collected as part of the Council free of charge service.

“This leaflet will explain the service including materials that can be placed on the nature strip and that hard waste items should not exceed an area of 2m x 2m and a height of 1metre,” he said.
